Cashback sites - the future

Friday, March 7th, 2008

Well everyone else I knew had a crap voucher codes site or a crap cashback site or a crap promo codes site, so we build one too, www.promos.co.uk. All my staff thought it was a good idea too so they all build one each. So its 2010 and now there are 20 million cash back sites in the uk, one for each person aged between 18-65. To get old senile people/kids/dogs and cats to sign up to my cashback site I offer them free tins of quality dog food, the cats didn’t like it, the kids were stoned and ate it late when they had the munchies, the old people thought it was great.

So now I need some people to answer the phone when Mrs Maple doesn’t get her 10p as the doddery old lady had flushed her cookies when using her new copy of Norton. So I open a building with 10 stoned 16 years, hey they are cheap. My business thrives then “Quids for you” grabs my best user, Mrs Maple, by offering here more dog food for free and 99% of their revenue…I only offered 98% and Mrs Maple is tight and poor…..the perfect customer I thinks not.

Well “Quids for you” is growing rapidly and getting larger buildings and more staff. All things look rosie in the garden for “Quids for you”. But I have my plans, I need to get more users and hence offer 99.99% of my revenue back and a free Malcolm Cowley doll. My business explodes I sign up every person and animal in the country, who dont have their own cashback site, I actually need 100 more servers for the new signups…who cares I own the market. Obviously I need a bigger building and more staff to service my user base of whinging old ladies. I am very busy, have loads of staff, massive operating costs and operate on a tiny margin. Then “Quids for you” or was it “Quids for you 2/3 or 4″ appear and offer 100% revenue cashback and a free blue rinse..50% of my fickle customers leave….what do I do now with my big building and my staff? Lets sell the company quickly, turnover is massive,we have a gleaming new building, lots of staff…….ah no profit, not to worry we can play with the accounts for that.

Oh no the guys and girls have moved onto 100% cashback:

So who wants to build a cashback site and a building?

Some people are not too bright

I found your site on technorati and read a few of your other posts. Keep up the good work. I just added your RSS feed to my Google News Reader. Looking forward to reading more from you.

A lot of work for an affiliate cut, what next, add a voucher section which is pure lies to open a iframe inbedding a cookie, then say something like, sorry no vouchers currently available. Theres some dody folks about, beware!

Ah the workings of a genius….

There will be no money in cashbacks in the future. The margins will be so small from any single person that companies will have to be massive to even make a living….think ebay with even less margin per customer

And I though all domain people were ugly:)
